Frequently Asked Questions

Are you sponsored by any pubs, pubs group or breweries etc or are you totally independent?
Diningpubs.co.uk is totally independent of the pubs and breweries. The reviews / description of the diningpubs are copyright of diningpubs and are augmented by information provided by the pubs and by visitors. Although we endeavour to keep the site as accurate and up to date as possible, errors will occur and we cannot accept liability for errors, inaccuracies or omissions. If such errors, inaccuracies or omissions are found, please notify us and we will endeavour to correct them as soon as possible. Occasionally we do accept advertisements from pubs but these are clearly shown and are independent to our review / description.

How do I advertise with you?
We accept box and banner advertisements for relevant businesses and these can be displayed by region or site wide. We reserve the right to refuse advertisements at our discretion should we consider them inappropriate for the site.

I disagree with some of the information / comments for a dining pub. How do I contact you?
If you find any areas on the site that you feel are incorrect please let us by using the contact form.

What does the Pricing Guide mean?
We have a scale of one to five stars for the prices. Pricing is based on a three course meal for two sharing a bottle of wine. Exact cost will depend on whether expensive courses and wine are ordered but our scale assumes courses choosen at the cheaper end. If known we show typical courses with prices in the pub description. We always welcome information updating this from visitors and landlords as this gives a more accurate estimate of cost.
As a rough guide in 2005 two persons can eat for around:- 1* Under £25 2* £25 - £30 3* £30 - £40 4* £40 - £50 5* more than £50

What do the numbers on the ‘Rate this Pub’ voting mean?
Bad is 1 and 9 is best. A wide range of people have voted for the pubs from locals to tourists from far across the UK and abroad. If we see indications that a landlord has voted or that malicious comments are posted we remove them. If you are a landlord and you spot any that you think are inappropriate please email us on landlords@diningpubs.co.uk.
There are three categories:- 1. Quality of Food 2. Ambience, atmosphere comfort and service 3. Value for Money

What other Information do you display?
Where we know it or it is relevant we also show:-_ Credit Cards taken History Building (Historic Date) Vegetarians catered for Disabled Access Children Welcome Garden
These are shown for guidance only and we recommend that you contact the pub directly. We always welcome updates from visitors and landlords if this information is incorrect.

What are the Search distances?
The search distances are taken from the Ordnance survey records and are based on the town location NOT the pub location. They are based on locations that can be found with a square grid. The distance you may need to travel does not take into account geographic factors such as rivers, bridges etc.

How accurate are the location maps?
Location maps are based on Post Code information and should be used as a guide only. These tend to be quite accurate within towns as they tend to be based on 6/10 building units and for country locations buildings within a Post Code can be very spread out even up to ½ mile! For accurate directions we recommend that contact the dining pub directly. We were know the telephone number, these are shown on the site. The new Explorer 25,000:1 maps can also be useful as they show many pub locations (but not names) accurately.

I’m having trouble voting adding a new vote to a pub I’ve previously voted for. Why?
We use advanced software to prevent visitors to vote more than once for a pub as this can lead to abuse.

What do the symbols ‘D’, ‘P’, ‘H’ and ‘F’ mean?
The ‘D’ stands for Dining Pub and refers to the majority of pubs on the site. ‘P’ dining pubs are premier pubs that have acquired a substantial reputation over many years and have achieved National and local awards for their food. The symbol ‘F’ is used for family friendly pubs where children are made particularly welcome. The symbol ‘H’ is used for dining pubs which are predominantly hotels.
